Belko Earns Endorsement from Local Firefighters

It is with great pride that I announce my endorsement by the Local Firefighters Union, IAFF Local 2532. This recognition is deeply personal to me, as our city has a history of underappreciating the brave individuals who protect us every day. Just two years ago, we saw firefighters resort to placing yard signs, asking the public to “honk if you think firefighters deserve fair pay.” At that time, the union was fighting to raise their salaries, which were 20% below the national average.

Unfortunately, during that battle, not one City Council member stood up to defend our firefighters. At the same time, City Council made decisions that prioritized their own interests, voting to triple their own salaries in less than a year. They also approved expensive projects like multi-million-dollar splash pads, while proudly announcing historic highs in the city’s “rainy day fund.”

Yet, when it came to investing in the real backbone of our city—our infrastructure, our services, and our people—suddenly, the funds weren’t available. This isn’t right, and it’s not the city leadership our community deserves.

I refuse to accept this as the best we can do. It’s time to realign our city’s priorities and invest in the things that truly matter: our community and the people who make it great.

Vote Belko in 2024 to help bring meaningful change to our city.

Join me and the Local Firefighters Union IAFF Local 2532 in making our city a better place for everyone. Let’s stand together and invest in our community and our people!

It’s so refreshing to see a candidate like Belko being endorsed by the Local Firefighters Union IAFF Local 2532! Our firefighters deserve leaders who genuinely care about their well-being and fight for fair pay. I remember seeing those “honk if you think firefighters deserve fair pay” signs around town not too long ago – it’s shocking how long it took for someone to truly step up for them. It’s about time we had someone on the City Council who prioritizes the people who keep us safe every day. This endorsement speaks volumes about Belko’s dedication to our community!
